Our boy is beginning to show his spunky side again. Today, he refused to nap, threw toys on the floor, and yelled rudely every time I tried to speak. These behaviors that are the bane of any mother of a three-year-old have given me such joy today because they mean he’s feeling more himself.
We learned today that we’re working on two factors that will bring Caemon home at the end of the week: lowered white blood cell count and improved breathing. He has been on and off oxygen since recovering from his pneumonia, so they really want to see him doing well without any supplemental oxygen at all. His white blood cells are presently coming down; they just need to come down a bit more. Then, his doctor says they will remove his PICC line to make things easier at home. We’ll continue to give him his chemo there until a bone marrow donor is found.
We are so looking forward to being home for awhile. We should know more in a couple of days. For now, know our boy is doing well, and fighting as hard as he can.
